Company History
Though it took ten years as a single mom working on mainframe technology, Sharon kept moving toward her goal to become a teacher. Education and computers are her passion.
From the classroom to regional educational centers, Sharon assimilated technology without the benefit of a teacher. Educator staff development opportunities didn't exist in 1979. Seeing this need, she helped to form the Illinois Computing Educator's Association serving as its first president. This group was formed to promote technology staff development for Illinois educators.
In 1990, spreading her wings, she established 8th Day Consulting, Training & Software. Until 1994, Sharon and her Macintosh were the only employees. Today there are nine trainer/consultants, a support staff of two, and four library processing specialists.
In recognition of their efforts, 8th Day Consulting, Training & Software has been honored by Chancery Software, Ltd. with their annual award for two of the past five years. Pinacore has also featured 8th Day as a service model that succeeds.

Our Founder: Sharon Pikul An unusual background of technical and practical education formed the foundation of Sharon's knowledge. Mainframe computers provided a livelihood in the late 60's. As a single working parent she graduated with honors from Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois, with a degree in K-12 Education.
At Mount Prospect District 214, she helped to develop the first applications oriented computer literacy course. After five years, R.I.F. provided another opportunity for Sharon to grow.
She served as assistant director for the Lake County Computer Consortium and then as Technology Director for the Tri-County Education Service Center. It was during that time she started working with Chancery Software, Ltd. products.
In 1987, she helped to form Illinois Computer Educators and served as the first president. As a certified trainer for several U.S. Department of Education programs, she also developed educator continuing education courses for Northern Illinois University. Sharon was a joint author for Apple Computer's Training manual, Apple II Networking for AppleShare.
With her passion for technology and a desire to make things better for other teachers, Sharon started our company. Every potential and current customer has her home phone number.
Even though she is recognized as a technology trailblazer by others, to her husband, Steve, and daughter, Kimberly, Sharon is first a wife, mother, and church Junior High Leader.
